Can You See Who Views Your Instagram Reels, Videos and Posts?

No โ€” you cannot see who views your Reels on Instagram. The same is true for feed videos and posts. Instagram shows you numbers, such as views and viewers, but not the names behind them. Stories are the one exception: there, you can see the list of people who watched.

Can You See Who Views Your Instagram Reels?

Quick answer: No. Instagram does not show a list of the people who viewed your Reel. You see the number of views, the number of viewers, watch time and follows in your Reel insights. You can also see who liked and who commented. The names of silent viewers stay private.

The Instagram Help Center lists every number you get for a Reel. Here is what it gives you, in Instagram's own words:

  • Views: the number of times your Reel starts to play or replay.
  • Viewers: the number of different accounts that saw your Reel on screen at least once, whether or not it played. Instagram marks this number as an estimate.
  • Watch time and average watch time: how long people spent playing it.
  • Follows: how many accounts followed you after watching.

Notice that "viewers" is a number, not a list. That is the key point. Instagram counts the people, but it does not tell you who they are. Personal and professional accounts get the same kinds of Reel numbers, and none of them is a list of names.

What you can see by name is the people who acted on your Reel. Likes and comments show the account names. Shares show as a number.

What Instagram Shows You for Each Format

Quick answer: Reels, feed videos and posts show counts only. Stories are the only format with a list of viewer names. Likes and comments show names on every format.

FormatNames of viewers?View count?Where to look
ReelNoYesReels tab, then View insights
Feed videoNoYesUnder the video, then View insights
Photo or carousel postNoYes, in insightsOpen the post, then View insights
StoryYes, for 48 hoursYesOpen your story and swipe up

So if you want to know who saw something, a Story is the only place Instagram tells you. Everywhere else, you get totals.

Can You See Who Watched Your Video on Instagram?

Quick answer: No. A video in your feed shows how many times it was viewed, not who viewed it. Tap the view count under the video to see the number of likes and who liked it. Watchers who did not like or comment stay unnamed.

Instagram's help page on post likes explains the steps. For a video post, you first tap the view count below the video. That opens the likes, and there you can see who liked it. It does not open a list of watchers.

The same goes for anyone else's video. When you watch someone's Reel or feed video, it does not tell them it was you. Your play only adds one to their count.

One more detail from the Help Center: video views only count plays inside the Instagram app. A play on an embedded post on a website, or on a computer, does not count. Read more in our guide on how Instagram counts video views.

Can You See Who Viewed Your Instagram Post?

Quick answer: No. For photo and carousel posts, Instagram shows a views number in your post insights, not a list of names. You can see who liked the post and who commented on it. Everyone else who scrolled past stays anonymous.

For posts, Instagram's insights use a slightly different meaning of "views": the number of times your content was displayed. A photo cannot "play", so a view here means it was shown on someone's screen. Your post insights also list interactions (likes, comments, saves and shares) and profile activity.

To see these numbers, tap your profile picture, open the post and tap View insights. You need a public account to use insights. Instagram keeps post insights for up to two years.

Stories Are Different: You Can See Your Viewers

Quick answer: Yes, you can see who views your Instagram Story. Open your story and swipe up. Instagram shows the number of views and the usernames of the people who watched each photo or video. Only you can see this list, and you can check it for up to 48 hours.

This is the one place where Instagram names your viewers. According to the Help Center:

  • Who can see the list: only you, the person who posted the story.
  • How long: up to 48 hours after you post. After 24 hours the story leaves your profile, so go to your Archive from the menu, open the story and swipe up.
  • Replays: the story view number includes replays. So you can see more views than names when one person watched twice.
  • It works both ways: when you watch someone else's story, they can see that you watched it.

Sharing a Reel to your Story is a simple trick. The people who watch that Story show up in your Story viewer list. The Reel itself still shows only numbers.

This section is information only. ViewsBoostly does not sell Story views. We add views to public Reels, feed videos and posts.

How to See Your Reel Views and Viewers in Insights

Quick answer: Go to your profile, open the Reels tab, tap the Reel and tap View insights. You see views, viewers, watch time, average watch time and follows. Your account must be public. Insights stay available for up to two years.

  1. Tap your profile picture in the bottom right.
  2. Tap the Reels tab below your profile info. Each Reel shows a play count in its bottom left corner.
  3. Tap the Reel you want to check.
  4. Tap View insights.

The number on the Reels tab and the views number in insights are not the same thing. Instagram says the Reels tab count is how many times your Reel started to play, and it does not include replays. The insights views number does include replays. So the insights number is often higher.

For a bigger picture, use your dashboard. Instagram says dashboards are open to all public accounts. A personal account has Your dashboard. A business or creator account has the Professional dashboard, with extra tools. Both show trends across your posts, but neither shows who viewed them.

Viewers vs views: viewers counts each account once. Views counts every play and replay. Compare the two to see how often people rewatch your Reel.

Do "Who Viewed My Reel" Apps Work?

Quick answer: No. Instagram does not give viewer names for Reels, videos or posts to anyone, so no outside app can show them. Most of these apps ask for your Instagram login. Instagram warns that giving your login to an app can give it complete access to your account.

Search the app stores and you will find "profile viewer" and "who watched my Reel" apps. They cannot get data that Instagram does not share. Some show random accounts from your followers and call them "viewers". Others just collect your login.

Instagram's own advice is clear. Its Help Center says to be careful before giving any app access to your account, and to never share your login with an app you do not trust. It also explains what can happen if you do: the app can read your personal messages, find information about your friends, and post spam from your profile.

  • Never type your Instagram password into a "viewer" app or website.
  • If you already did, change your Instagram password straight away.
  • Remove apps you no longer trust from the apps and websites list in your settings.

The same rule applies to any service that grows views. ViewsBoostly never asks for your password. An order needs only the public link of the post. Read our honest answer on account safety.

Why the View Count Matters More Than the Names

Quick answer: The view count is the number everyone sees, so it shapes first impressions. A Reel with a strong count looks worth watching. Names stay private on both sides, but the number is public on your Reels tab.

You cannot see who watched, and other people cannot see who watched your posts either. What they can see is the count. Instagram says anyone can see view counts on your Reels tab, unless a professional account turns them off.

That is why the first number matters. A new Reel stuck at 40 views makes people scroll past. If you want a stronger start on a post you care about, ViewsBoostly adds views to one public post from its link:

Prices start at $2.99 per 1,000 views, and delivery starts 2โ€“5 minutes after payment. No password needed.

Questions

Who Viewed My Reel: Questions and Answers

Can I see who viewed my Reels on Instagram?

No. Instagram shows the number of views and viewers on your Reel, not their names. You can see who liked or commented, and how many people shared it.

Why can't you see who views your Reels?

Instagram keeps Reel viewers private. Its insights give totals such as views, viewers and watch time, but no list of accounts. Only Stories show viewer names, and only to the person who posted them.

Can you see who views your Reels with a business account?

No. Business and creator accounts get the Professional dashboard and more tools, but the Reel insights still show numbers, not names. A personal public account sees the same Reel numbers.

If my account is public, can I see who views my Reels?

No. A public account lets anyone watch your Reels, and it lets you use insights. But insights show totals only. Public or private, the names of viewers are not shown.

Can you see how many people viewed your Reel?

Yes. Open the Reel and tap View insights. "Viewers" is the number of different accounts that saw it at least once. "Views" counts every play and replay, so it is usually higher.

When you view a video on Instagram, does it show who viewed it?

No. Watching a Reel or feed video adds one to its view count, but the owner does not see your name. Stories are different: the person who posted a Story can see that you watched it.

Can you see who viewed your Instagram story after 24 hours?

Yes, for up to 48 hours after you post it. Open your Archive from the menu on your profile, tap the story and swipe up to see the viewers.

Can you see who views your Instagram profile?

No. Instagram does not show who visited your profile. Apps that claim to show profile visitors cannot get that data, and many ask for your password. Never give it to them.

Names stay private. Make the count strong.

Paste one Reel, video or post link and choose 1,000 to 5,000,000 views. Delivery starts 2โ€“5 minutes after payment.
